Terms
A monthly league for companies whose people play The Splice. This page explains how it works and what can be won.
Who runs it
The Splice Cup is run by Mostly Cloudy Ltd, trading as MostlyCloudy, 18 Armstead Road, Pendeford, Wolverhampton, WV9 5RF, England. Registered in England and Wales, company number 16564773.
Who can win
- Anyone can play The Splice and appear on the Wall of Fame.
- To win, you must be 18 or over and live in the UK. A winning company must trade in the UK.
- MostlyCloudy staff and their households can play but cannot win.
How it works
- The first Splice Cup runs from 00:00 on 1 November to 23:59 on 30 November 2026, UK time. Scores before then go on the Wall of Fame but do not count for a Cup.
- After that, each Cup runs for a calendar month, from 00:00 on the first day to 23:59 on the last day, UK time.
- Your first finished run each day counts for the Cup. Later runs that day still count for the Wall of Fame and your rank.
- Companies are ranked on Cup points: the best Cup scores that month of their top 5 players, plus a bonus for each of those players’ ranks: 5 for a Corporal, 10 for a Sergeant, 20 for a Captain and 30 for a General. A company needs at least 5 different people playing that month to be ranked.
- Your company is the one you enter with your score. Everyone plays under their own name or a callsign.
- If two companies have the same Cup points, the one with more players that month ranks higher. If they are still level, the one whose 5 counted players have the lower combined splice loss ranks higher, then the one with the shorter combined run time.
- Run times are measured by our server, from the start of the run to the moment the score arrives.
Prizes
Company of the Month
The company with the most Cup points at the end of the month.
- The title Splice Cup Company of the Month, and a badge for your website and LinkedIn.
- A place in our monthly winners post on LinkedIn, with a photo of your crew if you send one.
- Your logo in the game for the following month, if you agree to it.
- A free one-hour paperwork review with us: your RAMS, training matrix and vehicle checks, against what a main contractor’s audit asks for. There is no obligation to buy anything.
- If you join MostlyCloudy, 50% off your first month. If you already use it, 50% off your next month.
Splicer of the Month
The player with the highest Cup score that month. If two players are level, the lower splice loss wins, then the shorter run time.
- A place in the monthly winners post, with a few questions about your work if you would like them.
- A champion card to share, and a line on the Champions list on the game page.
- You name one of the daily sites in the following month’s game.
For both
- Each company and each player can win once. If a past winner comes top again, they keep the title, and the prize goes to the highest-placed company or player that has not won before.
- Prizes have no cash value and cannot be swapped or transferred.
Winners
- We work out the winners within 7 days of the end of the month and contact them by email or phone.
- Winning companies and players are named on this site and in our posts on LinkedIn, players by the name or callsign they played under. By taking part you agree to this. We only use a company’s logo or a crew photo with its written permission.
- If we cannot reach a winner within 30 days of the end of the month, the prize goes to the next company or player.
Claiming
- Claim from the result screen, or reply to our email. One email from someone at the company is enough.
- We confirm the win by phoning the company’s office.
Fair play
- Scores are checked on our server. Runs that finish faster than a real splice allows, results a real run cannot produce, and scores sent without playing the game are not counted.
- We may remove scores or companies that look automated, abusive or played on someone else’s behalf, and we may hold back a prize if these terms were not followed.
- Company names are checked before a winners post. We may correct a name to the company’s registered name, or remove names that are not real companies.
Your details
Your name or callsign, company and score are shown on the public Wall of Fame. If you play under a callsign, we may ask for your real name to check a prize claim. We keep it private and only publish it with your written permission. Your email is only used to arrange a Splice Cup prize, and we only send news if you tick the box. See the privacy notice.
Changes
We may change or end the Cup. Changes are posted on this page and do not affect prizes already won.
